Electrical dehydrators, demulsifiers, heater-treater   

Electrical dehydrators are devices designed to separate water from crude oil by destroying reverse type oil emulsions (water in oil) in an electric field. As a result of the electric field induction, the dispersed water globules are polarized with the formation of electric charges at the vertices, change the direction of their movement synchronously with the main field and constantly state oscillated. The shape of the globules is continuously changing leading to crimping of the structural-mechanical barrier, destruction of adsorption shells and water globules coalescence. According to their geometric shape, cylindrical and spherical electrical demulsifiers are distinguished, according to their location in space – vertical and horizontal with a capacity of 80-200 m3 and operation pressure of up to 1 MPa, designed for a temperature of up to 110°C. Electrodes area is 20-30 m2.

Demulsifiers are used in the process of oil dehydration and desalination in gathering systems and oil treatment facilities in a wide temperature range; for deep desalination of oil at oil refineries; for fuel oil dehydration, processing and disposal of industrial effluents; for the destruction of intermediate layers stabilized by mechanical impurities (in particular, iron sulfide) associated with ARPD.

Heater-Treater unit. Oil-in-water emulsion coming from wells cluster is difficult to separate into phases using gravitation force only. To solve this problem, the liquid is heated and additional conditions are created, using the Heater-Treater unit for separation. Each set of equipment consists of a horizontal vessel, control unit and a computer monitoring system. Vessel is designed for 5,000 tons per day rated output. Products separation is achieved due to liquid passage through the flame pipes, then through a group of plates on which oil and water form large drops. After welding activities, steel vessel was tested by heat and pressure  one and half times of the design (7 kg/cm2). The unit is designed for operation at immediate environment temperatures from -43°С to 149°С. Control unit with piping and devices for liquid flows monitoring, measuring and control in the vessel is placed on vessel’s end.
